Letters of Recommendation from Cats
As a Bay Area resident, I’ve been in quarantine since March 2020. My social life has drastically changed, and I now spend the majority of my time with my 3 cats. These cats have seen more than just my transforming wardrobe and (declining) beauty habits: they sat by my side during a 6-month UX Bootcamp and are still sitting (with their eyes closed) as I start my job search during unprecedented times. Considering all this, who better to write a recommendation on my strengths and abilities?
To Whom It May Concern,
I’ve known Sarah for a long time — almost my entire life. Over that time we have developed a productive co-living arrangement. In fact, I spend many of my napping hours draped over the back of her work chair. I’ve attended quite a few of her zoom co-working sessions and can vouch for her willingness to connect with teammates and solve problems cooperatively. I’ve also partnered with her in many a user interview or usability test, and can attest that she has learned to avoid leading questions and do her best to get honest thoughts and feedback from participants.
I can’t imagine not having Sarah as a part of my team, and I believe she’d be as valuable a member on any UX team she joins.
Sincerely,
Tater “Tot” Cook
Dear Sir or Madam,
Quarantine has given Sarah and me a chance to get to know each other better. During these unusual times, I fell victim to an accident. No, I didn’t get Covid, but I did get a nasty bite that required me to stay indoors. During this time, I experienced Sarah’s empathetic skills firsthand and learned more about her ethical nature. I respect her interest in creating a more helpful and meaningful world through her work.
I believe Sarah will be successful at whatever she puts her mind to and recommend her for roles that require dedication and a values-driven approach.
All the Best,
Cricket
Dear Hiring Manager,
I was immediately drawn to Sarah for her warmth (literally) and reliability. I’m a bit of an independent worker, but I can count on her when I need a check-in (and some snack).
Like me, she is a creative problem solver. For example, we had an issue where a few of the team members weren’t able to let ourselves in and out of the facility. There were quite a few constraints, including the lack of feasibility of a cat door and a need for protection from unwanted visitors. She was able to devise a solution that came in under-budget and has successfully proven itself over countless tests.
I’m confident that Sarah’s strategic and thoughtful nature will add value to your team.
Cheers,
Grizzo
